Screen Printing

Screen Printing

Screen printing is the process of pressing ink through a stencilled mesh screen to create a printed design. It’s a popular technique used in a whole range of different industries, so even if you’ve never heard of the term before today, it’s likely that you’ve worn or used a screen-printed product at some point without even realising. The process is sometimes called serigraphy or silk screen printing, but all of these names refer to the same basic method.
Screen printing is an effective technique for creating bold canvases, posters and artwork, but the method can also be used to print fabrics and textiles, so it’s great for creating all sorts of custom clothing and products.

Screen Printing

Screen printing is the well-known and age-old practice of pressing ink through a stencilled mesh to print bold, bright graphics onto t-shirts and hoodies. Every event shirt in your drawer is probably a product of screen printing.

Screen printing lends itself to large quantities of casual garments such as t-shirts and sweatshirts. The print holds up well and is less expensive than embroidery so it is the common choice for workwear, race events, school spirit wear and family reunions.

For a screen printing project, all we need is a good description of what you want printed or a digital file, preferably an EPS or PNG. Most anywhere on the garment is fair game to print on, except small openings such as cuffs which do not fit into our machine.

The choice of t-shirts is endless! The soft triblends are very popular today and the classic all-cotton will never go out of style. Some people like sturdy and thick shirts for holding up through many washings and some people prefer the thin and drapey t-shirts for cool comfort. Most shirt fabrics are made up of cotton, polyester, rayon, or any combination of the three.
